And I think the dragons must be really buffed up creatures in the 21st century, like, Temeraire would be able to take ten missiles in the face, eat them, and spit them back out at the enemy.
Or dragons could just be rendered obsolete as armored transportation. But that wouldn’t be fun at all.

I remember reading something not entirely different to his concept about the modern franchise. In that, the dragons eventually just shrunk down to a more human size.
